Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen sought Belarus’s support for signing free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) during a discussion at the State Guest House Padma on Sunday.
He urged Belarusian businessmen and entrepreneurs to invest in the Special Economic Zones and High-tech Parks in Bangladesh.
The issues were discussed at the 5th round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between Bangladesh and Belarus, according to a UNB report.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and Evgeny Shestakov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus led their respective sides in the Foreign Office Consultations.
Foreign Secretary Masud thanked the Belarusian people, as a part of the then USSR, for their support during Bangladesh’s War of Liberation in 1971.
Both delegations expressed satisfaction over the current status of bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed hope that in the coming days, bilateral relations will be further strengthened and deepened.
The Belarusian delegation expressed their interest in importing manpower from Bangladesh and providing opportunities for more Bangladeshi students to pursue higher studies in Belarus.
Both sides stressed completing the necessary procedures for signing the pending bilateral instruments, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
All important aspects of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Belarus including agricultural, educational and military cooperation, cooperation in science and technology, and legal issues, etc. were discussed during the consultations.
