Bangladesh to set up ‘July Mass Uprising Directorate’

The interim government has taken an initiative called the “July Mass Uprising Directorate” to incorporate the ideals and spirit of the July mass uprising in the state and national life.

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs is set to lead the directorate.

A statement issued by the ministry on Wednesday says the directorate aims to preserve the history and memory of the uprising, rehabilitate the families of the victims and the injured, and institute the ideals and spirit of the movement in the state and national life.

The decision was taken in an inter-ministerial meeting held at the conference room of the ministry and presided over by Liberation War Affairs Advisor Faruk E Azam, it added.
