A 35-year-old Bangladeshi man was detained by local police in Malaysia’s Johor state after he mistakenly entered a women’s restroom at the Kulai Bus Terminal on Tuesday.

Kulai District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee said in a statement on Wednesday that the man was taken into custody following allegations that he had entered the women’s toilet at the terminal.

According to preliminary police investigation, the man had travelled from Kuala Lumpur by bus and got off at the terminal during a scheduled break. He reportedly left his luggage on a chair in the waiting area and inadvertently walked into the women’s restroom, mistaking it for the men’s facility.

Local police detained him immediately after the incident and took him to the nearest station for questioning.

The police officer later confirmed that after verifying his documents and completing necessary checks, the man was released. A formal police report has also been filed regarding the incident.

A video of the man’s detention circulated widely on social media shortly after the event, attracting significant public attention.
