Bangladeshi passport has been ranked 10th-weakest in the world as it was placed 96th out of 103, according to a global report.

Bangladeshi passport holders can travel to 40 countries without prior visa, said the third quarter edition of the Henley Passport Index 2023.

The must-have travel document was ranked 101st among 111 in the first quarter of the global report. Bangladesh is followed by North Korea and Nepal.

The report ranked 199 countries or territories based on the passport holders' eligibility to enter a destination without prior visa.

The UK-based investment migration consultancy farm Henley & Partners prepared the report where it said Singapore's passport is now officially the most powerful one in the world, with its citizens being able to visit 192 travel destinations out of 227 around the world visa-free.

Japan has been knocked off the top spot on the Henley Passport Index for the first time in five years and bumped into 3rd place, according to the latest ranking, which is based on exclusive and official data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Germany, Italy, and Spain all move up into second place with visa-free access to 190 destinations, it said.

Japanese passport holders join those of six other nations - Austria, Finland, France, Luxembourg, South Korea, and Sweden - in the third place with access to 189 destinations without a prior visa.

Pakistan, Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan grabbed the positions from 100th to 104th respectively.
