Bangladeshi student appointed ambassador of local government in China

Mohammad Saiyedul Islam, a Bangladeshi meritorious student studying on a scholarship from the Chinese government, has been appointed as the ‘International Investment Attracting Ambassador’ of the local government in Tongcheng County, Hubei province, China.

He has been appointed to this post for one year, according to a statement issued on Thursday.

On Monday morning, December 28, he received the honour at the Wanya International Import Commodity Pavilion Phase II Investment Promotion Signing Conference with the overall support of the Wanya Group, the statement reads.

The conference was held at the Wanya International Trade Center in Tongcheng.

At the conference, Xiong Yaping, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Xianning Municipal People’s Congress and Secretary of the County Party Committee handed over the crest and certificate to him.

Luo Yulong, Vice President of China Federation of Commerce, Liu Mingdeng, Deputy Secretary of the County Party Committee and County Mayor, Hu Zhongxiong, Member of the Standing Committee of the County Party Committee and Director of the County Office, Tian Hao, General Manager of Shanghai Hongqiao Free Trade City, and ZhongJiamei, General Manager of Boyu Exhibition Service Co., Ltd. attended the investment conference.

Saiyedul, whose Chinese name is Wudi, is currently doing an International Trade Major in the Ph.D. programme at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China.

In 2018, Saiyedul was admitted to the Master's programme in the International Business Major on a scholarship from the Chinese government for higher education in the same university.

Saiyedul Islam, who originally hails from Nalua village of Narsingdi district, is the son of Mohammad Lutfor Rahman Barik. He is the eldest of his two brothers and sisters, as per the statement.
