Vehicular movement has resumed on both sides of Rampura-Malibagh and Rampura-Badda roads after members of the army have removed battery-operated rickshaw pullers who blocked the road in the capital's Rampura.
When an army team reached the spot around 1pm on Thursday, the rickshaw pullers fled the road, as per local media reports.
Locals, shopkeepers, pedestrians, CNG, bus drivers and helpers also chased the rickshaw pullers along with the army members.
As a result, the protesting rickshaw pullers fled from the road and entered various alleys.
Local residents and businessmen alleged that some pro-Awami League rickshaw garage owners are trying to take advantage of the helpless drivers on the road.
They also think that the decision to ban battery-operated rickshaws in Dhaka metropolis to restore discipline on the roads is right.
Earlier, battery-run rickshaw pullers blocked the Rampura-Malibagh and Rampura-Badda roads in Rampura Bazar area protesting the ban on battery-operated auto-rickshaws in Dhaka metropolitan area creating huge traffic jam.
