BB issues guidelines on entry-level salaries of bank officers

Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Tuesday issued a set of guidelines on implementation of the new salaries and allowances for the entry-level officers of banks, taking into consideration the financial ability of the banks during the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier on January 20 last, the central bank issued a circular fixing the minimum salaries of the entry-level officers for encouraging the young generation to take banking as a career and play their role in the economic advancement of the nation.

In its new guidelines released on Tuesday, the BB said the monthly minimum salaries-wages of general banking officers of the 4th generation banks namely Bangladesh Commerce Bank Limited and ICB Islamic Bank Limited and those established onwards will be Tk 39,000.

Besides, the minimum monthly salary and wages of the cash-side entry-level officers will be Tk 36,000.

The basic pay will be implemented from April, 2022 and the remaining allowances from April 2023, it said.

Except the aforesaid banks, the minimum monthly salaries and allowances of entry-level general banking officers and cash officers of other banks will be Tk 39,000 and Tk 36,000 respectively, which will be payable from April, 2022.

According to the previous circular, the salary of an entry-level assistant officer, trainee assistant officer, trainee assistant cash officer or equivalent officers would be a minimum of Tk 28,000 during the probation period.

Besides, their total salary including basic will be at least Tk 39,000 per month after the end of probation period, it said, adding that the new salaries and wages would be implemented from March 01, 2022.
