Academic activities at MC College and Sylhet Govt College in the district came to a halt as a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) enforced an indefinite strike on Monday protesting the murder of a fellow activist.

Due to the strike, announced by the Ranjit group of BCL, no classes were held at the both colleges since morning.

Meanwhile, the authorities of Sylhet MC College have postponed today's Honours first year examination.

Protesting the killing of Tanim Khan, fellow BCL activists also put road blockade in front of MC College around 11:00am, halting vehicular movement on both sides of the road.

Police in separate drives in the city arrested four people in connection with the murder, said Akhter Hossian, officer-in-charge of Shahparan police station.
