The parley between the officials of the government of Bangladesh and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) ended inconclusive for the second consecutive day on Tuesday as the two sides failed to reach consensus over the pending issues.

Officials familiar with the development told The Financial Express that the meeting would continue in the coming days to reach an agreement through narrowing the gap.

Bangladesh and IMF officials were holding talks over the release of fourth and fifth tranches of the ongoing $4.7 billion lending programme.

The major difference remained over the greater exchange rate flexibility which Bangladeshi authorities considered not appropriate at this moment.
