Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, along with his family members, has left Bangladesh for Singapore amid criticism over reports on graft allegations.

They left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) through a flight of Singapore Airlines on the night of May 4, a local news portal reported.

A source was quoted to have told the news portal that the former Bangladesh police chief had gone to Singapore along with his family for his wife’s medical treatment.

Benazir is to appear before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on June 6 as the ACC has summoned him as part of its investigations into allegations of his acquiring huge properties beyond known sources.

A Dhaka court on May 23 ordered the confiscation of the properties owned by Benazir and his family members.
