Bengal Group of Industries Chairman Morshed Alam has been arrested in the capital.
The Detective Branch of police arrested the three-time Awami League lawmaker for Noakhali-2 from the Gulshan-2 area in a drive on Tuesday night, police said.
Rezaul Karim Mallick, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s additional commissioner and the DB chief, told the media that there are multiple cases against Morshed Alam.
He said DB officials would produce him before a court on Wednesday.
Morshed Alam was elected MP from Noakhali-2 constituency with the AL ticket in 2014, 2018, and 2024 elections.
He is also the chairman of Bengal Media Corporation Limited that owns private television RTV.
He was the chairman of Mercantile Bank and a founding director of National Life Insurance.
