BGB arrests man with 10 gold bars in Chuadanga

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a man along with 10 gold bars, weighing 1.7 kg, from a bus near Darshana Filling Station in Darshana upazila of Chuadanga on early Wednesday.

The arrestee was identified as Selim Mia, 23, son of Abdul Quader of Karpashdanga village in Damurhuda upazila.

Acting on secret information, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area and intercepted a Darshana-bound bus ‘Darshana Deluxe’ on Chuadanga-Jibonagar road around 4 am and arrested Selim, said Lieutenant Colonel Imam Hasan, director of BGB-6.

Later, they recovered the gold bars from under the sole of his slipper, reports UNB.

The market value of the gold bars is Tk 6.357 million (63.57 lakh), he added.
