Home Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Sunday said the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been instructed to stay fully prepared to tackle any situation along the border.

“If the BSF side engages in any provocations or tensions, the BGB has been directed to thwart such actions,” the adviser said while talking to reporters at the BGB headquarters after attending a rehabilitation event for those injured during the July movement.

There is no reason for worry for border residents, as BGB is always ready to provide security in the border areas, he added.

He praised the BGB's role during the July-August movement, saying that the BGB had shown great patience, compassion, and responsibility during the movement except for a few isolated incidents, according to a UNB report.

Adviser Jahangir also said BGB had successfully arrested controversial people attempting to flee to India via the border and had helped prevent smuggling activities.

He assured that the government would bear all medical expenses for the injured as the nation will move forward together.

Fisheries Adviser Farida Akhter said ‘Fascist Hasina’ would return to the country as a genocide accused, and she would have no place in the country except in a courtroom.

BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui said around 50 injured protesters have received advanced medical care at BGB Hospital to date.

The BGB will assist in the rehabilitation of 107 people, including students injured in the movement across the country.

As part of this initiative, 7 people were provided assistance at the event.
