BGB detains four hundi traders with $190,000 in Jashore

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained four suspected hundi traders with US$ 190,000 from Hamidpur in Jashore on Friday.

The arrested were identified as Md Mithu Mandal, 28, Md Shahidul Islam, 23, Md Sohail Rana (Hazrat), 40, and Rakibul Hasan Sagar, 20, reports UNB.

Sources at the BGB headquarters said a team of BGB-49 battalion led by its Assistant Director Mohammad Faruque Hossain stopped the four hundi traders when they were waiting to get on a Dhaka-bound bus from Hamidpur at around 11:50am.

The hundi traders tried to flee but BGB members chased them and detained them.

BGB members frisked them and recovered 19 bundles US dollars each contain $10,000, worth Bangladeshi Tk16.0 million.

During preliminary interrogation, the men said that they have been involved in hundi trading and gold smugglings for a long time.
