BGB detains two Indian nations with gold, money

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained two Indian nationals along with gold ornaments weighing around 450 grams and cash from bordering Amrakhali area in Benapole on Friday.

The detainees are Sudir Chao, 35, son of Hira Chao of Sonapur Jagatipota area in Kolakata, and Sadananda, 27, son of Ramprashad Rao of Basubo in Howrah, reports UNB.

Acting on a tip-off , a BGB team conducted a drive in the bordering area at noon and detained the two Indian citizens on suspicion, said Lt Col Ariful Haque, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-49.

Later, gold ornaments weighing 450 grams, Tk 2 million and 2,630 Indian Rupees were recovered from their possession, he said.

The detainees were later handed over to Benapole Port Police Station and a case was filed, the BGB official added.
