BGB nabs two youths with gold bars in Benapole

Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two youths along with eight gold bars from Putkhali border area under Sharsha upazila in Jashore district on Friday night.

They were identified as Rony Akhter Babu, 30, son of Anisur Rahman of Balunda village, and Yakub Ali, 28, son of Amirul Islam, a resident of Amla village.

Acting on secret information, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area and arrested the duo while they were trying to smuggle the gold worth around Tk 4.0 million into India, said Lieutenant Colonel Imram Ullah Sarkar, Commander of Khulna BGB-21.

The arrestees were handed over to Benapole Land Port Police Station under which the area from where the arrests were made falls.

A case was filed following the incident.
