Planning Minister M A Mannan on Friday said big projects are creating opportunities for corruption, looting and misappropriation of public money.

Corruption is the key barrier in meeting the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIR), the minister also said.

He was speaking as the chief guest of a 'shadow parliament', organised by Debate for Democracy, held at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in the city.

The 'shadow parliament' debated on 'the government's readiness to meet the challenges of the FIR', said a press release.

The minister opined that the challenges of the FIR have to be dealt with building skilled human resources through expanding education and technology vastly.

In order to meet the FIR's challenges, it is necessary to remove all forms of corruption from the country, and the government is committed to eliminate corruption, he added.

Chairman of Debate for Democracy Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiran presided over the function, while development activist Dr S M Morshed, and journalists Doulat Akter Mala, Riyad Hossain, Ruhul Amin and Arifur Rahman were also present, among others.

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology became champion in the debate, defeating Northern University Bangladesh.
