The five-day long 54th Biswa Ijtema concluded on Tuesday morning following Akheri Munajat (final prayer) with the participation of followers of Indian Islamic preacher Mawlana Muhammad Saad Al Kandhalvi on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi of Gazipur.

Indian Mawlana Shamim Ahmed conducted the second phase Akheri Munajat from 11:45am to 12:02pm.

Mawlana Iqbal Hafiz of India conducted the Hedayati Bayan, after Fazr prayer, which was translated into Bangla by Mawlana Syed Osama Islam, according to a UNB report.

Biswa Ijtema, with the participation of the followers of Maulana Muhammad Saad Al Kandhalvi, started on Sunday and it was extended by a day as heavy rains disrupted the congregation.

Earlier on Saturday morning, the Akheri Munajat of the Ijtema, led by Maulana Jubair Hassan with the participation of his followers, was held on the same ground.

Since 2011 until the last year, the congregation had been held in two phases. However, this year's Ijtema was organised in a single phase with separate final prayers by two factions of the Tabligh Jamaat.

Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of the Muslims after hajj, has been being organised at the venue since 1967.
