After the Akheri Munajat brought the first phase of the Biswa Ijtema to a close, the grounds in Tongi where the event is held were handed over to the Gazipur district administration.
Mahfuz Hannan, chief convener of the Tablighi Jamaat Shura-e-Nezam organising committee, handed over the grounds to the central coordinating committee at 8:00 pm on Thursday, as per a bdnews24.com report.
He said, “Thanks to the full cooperation of the interim government, we were able to successfully complete the six-day Ijtema under the supervision of the Shura-e-Nezam. We completed the Ijtema while fulfilling the three conditions which the government had presented when permitting us to hold the Ijtema.”
“We hope that this time the district administration will conduct the following activities for the Biswa Ijtema in accordance with the government decision.”
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan said, “If everything goes well, the Tongi grounds will be handed over to the elders on the organising committee of the second phase of the Biswa Ijtema afternoon on Saturday.”
The second phase of Biswa Ijtema will begin on February 14. Followers of Maulana Saad Kandhlawi will take part in the phase over three days. This year's Ijtema will conclude with a final prayer service on February 16.
