BNP leader Abdul Awal Mintoo hospitalised

BNP vice-president and also a renowned businessman of the country Abdul Awal Mintoo suddenly fell sick and was immediately admitted to United Hospital in the capital city on Saturday.

According to family sources, Mintoo attended a wedding programme on Friday night. He felt severe pain in his chest when he was trying to get some sleep after returning home from the programme. At one point, he is said to have fainted. He was then rushed to the hospital.

Mintoo’s eldest son, BNP leader Tabith Awal said doctors apprehend he may have suffered from cardiac complications. 

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam visited the hospital to see ailing Abdul Awal Mintoo at 2.30 pm.

74-year-old Abdul Awal Mintoo is the founder of Multimode Group. He also served the businessmen's apex organisation Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) as a president.
