BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said their party is ready to make any sacrifice to forge a greater unity soon with other political parties to 'restore' democracy.

"We need to keep it in mind that a greater unity will not be created if we don't make some sacrifices. Now we all must reach a united position making sacrifices, and we're trying to do that," he said.

The BNP leader made the remarks on Saturday while speaking at a views-exchange meeting at BNP's Nayapaltan central office organised by Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal, reports UNB.

The BNP leader said the people of the entire country want a greater unity.

"I believe the national unity will be forged very soon to restore democracy and free our leader (Khaleda) though united efforts against the autocratic regime," he said.

Fakhrul said they will defeat the current 'monstrous' government through forging the unity with other political parties.

He also mentioned that their party chairperson Khaleda Zia had called for a national unity before going to jail.

"As per her direction, we're in discussions with other political organisations to create the national unity. The process is on, and we hope we'll come out successful," he observed.

The BNP leader again opposed the shifting of the makeshift court to Old Dhaka Central Jail from Bakshi Bazar Alia Madrasa ground to hold the trial of Zia Charitable Trust graft case against Khaleda.

"It is an unconstitutional and inhuman move of the government. The trial can't be held in a small room in jail. It's nothing but a camera trial," Fakhrul claimed.

He urged the government to release their chairperson and allow her to receive treatment in any specialised hospital as she is very sick.

Fakhrul alleged that the government is filing many false cases across the country without any incident only to suppress BNP leaders and activists in a bid to hang onto power.

"The government has created a hell-like situation across the country by filing false cases. The country is now under the grip of a dangerous devil. We'll have to defeat it with our strength together with people," he told his party colleagues. .

The BNP leader said the government has got 'crazy' sensing its imminent fall. "This government won't be able to cling to power as people are not with it. People have no confidence in it. So, our victory is certain."

Mentioning that the country is going through a serious crisis, Fakhrul called upon the freedom fighters to get united to save the nation and establish people's lost rights.
