Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said BNP’s politics is in deep crisis now as the party is getting isolated from the people day by day after failing in elections, by-elections and movements.

“In the way BNP is getting isolated from the people, failing in polls and by-polls and the people are boycotting them, it is actually a severe crisis period for BNP,” he told a discussion marking the 74th birthday of Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina, reports BSS.

Sheikh Russel Jatiyo Shishu-Kishore Parishad arranged the discussion and distribution ceremony of Bangabandhu’s autobiographic book ‘The Unfinished Memoirs’ among children and juvenile. Quader joined it virtually from his official residence on parliament premises.

About BNP’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s comment that the country is going through a crisis period, the minister said coronavirus pandemic created a global crisis and the developed countries are also facing severe trouble in facing the situation.

With limited resources, Bangladesh is making its all-out strides to face the crisis, he said, adding that though the initiatives of the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in facing the crisis have been lauded at home and abroad, a political party (BNP) is continuously making criticism to this end.

Mentioning that the government stays alert in facing the probable second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the road transport and bridges minister said the virus transmission remains relatively under control by the grace of Almighty and because of continuous efforts of the government.

But BNP is seeing severe crisis in the country even now, he said, adding that the party had earlier stated that people would die without getting treatment and bodies would lie down on streets in coronavirus pandemic. The minister questioned whether BNP gets pained as such situation did not happen.

Quader said the wheels of economy again started becoming vibrant with coordination of life and livelihood as the country returns to positive trend in exports, foreign remittance, reserve and other socio-economic indexes. But BNP could not see these achievements, he said.

Quader said Sheikh Hasina is not only an ordinary head of the government rather she is a successful statesman.

She does not only do politics for the next general election also works for the wellbeing of the next generation and that is why she has taken the 100-year long delta plan, he added.

Mentioning that Bangabandhu’s family is symbol of honesty, merit and courage, the minister said Sheikh Hasina makes herself an extraordinary personality by leading a simple life in spite of being head of the government.

Sheikh Russel Jatiyo Shishu-Kishore Parishad President Mahmudus Samad Chowdhury, MP, Member Secretary KM Shahidullah, AL Advisory Council Member Mozaffar Hossain Paltu and Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua were present, among others.

Marking the birthday of Sheikh Hasina, foods were distributed among the distressed and destitute people under the initiatives of Awami Swechchhasebak League at the Bangabandhu Avenue.

Joining it through a videoconferencing, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the party leaders and workers stood beside the people extending their humanitarian hands during the coronavirus pandemic and their generous activities will remain unforgettable.

Awami Swechchhasebak League President Nirmal Ranjan Guha and General Secretary Afjalur Rahman Babu were present on the occasion, among others.
