A female student of Dhaka University (DU) was found dead in their DU residential quarters in the capital on Sunday.
The deceased was Adrita binte Mosharraf, a first-year student of the marketing department and daughter of Mosharraf Hossain, professor of DU management department.
According to DU sources, Adritha lived with her parents on the third floor of building number 19 on South Fuller Road.
Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh Police Station Mustazirur Rahman said Adrita was found lying on the bed in the residential quarters on Sunday morning.
Police took Adrita to Dhaka Medical Centre where doctors declared her dead around 7:30 am.
DU proctor Professor Dr. Maksudur Rahman said, 'We got the news at 4:00 am and informed police. Police recovered Adrita's hanging body."
The body was kept in the Dhaka Medical College Hospital mortuary.
Efforts are underway to find out the details of the incident, police said.
