Police recovered the body of a minor boy who went missing on December 3 from a septic tank at Ghona village in Matlab South upazila in Chandpur on early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Mahib, 7, a class one student of local primary school and son of expatriate Masud Rana, a resident of the village.

Allegation has been raised against his own uncle that he killed his nephew for failing to get ransom money, said AKMS Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Matlab South Police Station.

On information, a police team led by SI Ruhul Amin recovered the bloated body from the tank around 2:30 am and sent it to Chandpur General Hospital for autopsy, reports UNB.

Following this incident, police arrested victim's uncle Jamal Hossain, 50, and a neighbour Shojib, 35, for alleged involvement in this heinous killing. A case was filed in this connection.

Earlier on December 3, soon after the boy went missing, it was the uncle Jamal who filed a general diary with the police station, the OC added.
