Bangladesh Railway (BR) started train services for the Eid passengers on Saturday.

During a visit to the Kamalapur Railway Station in the capital, it was found that passengers began gathering at the station from early morning.

The station premises was bustling with thousands of people eager to go home to celebrate Eid with their loved ones at their respective village homes.

The BR authority put in place a three-tier security system to ensure discipline and safety of the passengers.

A BR official said that the railway security forces, railway police, and Ansar members were jointly guarding against entry without valid tickets.

The passengers who left the capital by train were mostly students and family members (women and children).

The BR authority said that all necessary preparations were made to ensure smooth and safe Eid travel.

A railway official at the Kamalapur Station said that each train came to Dhaka/ Kamalapur station the night before and was departing on schedule.

From 6:00 am to 5:00 pm all the intercity trains left the Kamalapur station for various destinations on time. However, the Rangpur Express left 20 minutes behind the schedule.
