Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam on Friday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to bringing back those responsible for the July killings, calling it a “pledge to the martyrs.”
Speaking at the inauguration of an inter-college football tournament at Magura Government High School, he said the International Crimes Tribunal has already proven the former “fascist government’s atrocities.”
He noted that Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal have been sentenced to death by the tribunal and may appeal, but the government aims to expedite legal procedures for their extradition.
Shafiqul dismissed claims of a “minus formula,” stressing that a free and fair election with participation from all parties will be held by 15 February. Local officials were present at the event.
