BRTA releases revised bus fare chart for inter-district, long-distance and city routes

The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has published the revised fare chart for inter-district and long-distance bus routes, alongside updated fares for routes in Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas.

The government revised bus fares on Apr 23 following a hike in diesel prices.

However, the absence of a detailed fare chart on the day triggered confusion among long-distance passengers.

The detailed fare list was published on BRTA's website on Saturday.

Sayedabad Routes

On the Dhaka (Sayedabad)-Chattogram route, fares have been set at Tk 704 for 51-seat buses and Tk 552 for 40-seat buses.

For the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar route, the fare is Tk 900 for 51-seat buses and Tk 1,147 for 40-seat buses.

On the Sayedabad-Sylhet route, passengers will pay Tk 580 on 51-seat buses and Tk 740 on 40-seat buses.

The Sayedabad-Barishal route has been fixed at Tk 464 for 51-seat buses and Tk 592 for 40-seat buses.

On the Sayedabad-Khulna route, the fares are Tk 541 and Tk 690 respectively.

For the longest route, Sayedabad-Teknaf, fares have been set at Tk 1,047 for 51-seat buses and Tk 1,335 for 40-seat buses.

Gabtoli Routes

On the Dhaka (Gabtoli)-Panchagarh route, the fare is Tk 1,005 for 51-seat buses and Tk 1,281 for 40-seat buses.

For Dhaka (Gabtoli)-Rangpur, the fares are Tk 751 and Tk 911 respectively.

On the Dhaka (Gabtoli)-Dinajpur route, passengers will pay Tk 974 on 51-seat buses and Tk 1,241 on 40-seat buses.

The Dhaka (Gabtoli)-Jhenaidah route has been set at Tk 501 and Tk 639.

For Dhaka (Gabtoli)-Rajshahi, the fares are Tk 777 and Tk 991.

On the Dhaka (Gabtoli)-Meherpur route, the fares are Tk 776 and Tk 981 respectively.

Mohakhali Routes

On the Dhaka (Mohakhali)-Mymensingh route, fares have been fixed at Tk 294 for 51-seat buses and Tk 375 for 40-seat buses.

For Dhaka (Mohakhali)-Jamalpur, the fares are Tk 386 and Tk 492.

The Dhaka (Mohakhali)-Sherpur route has been set at Tk 421 and Tk 537.

Passengers travelling on the Dhaka (Mohakhali)-Kishoreganj route will pay Tk 401 on 51-seat buses and Tk 511 on 40-seat buses.

Fuel Price Hike and Fare Adjustment

The government raised fuel prices on the night of Apr 18.

Diesel increased from Tk 100 to Tk 115 per litre, kerosene from Tk 112 to Tk 130, octane from Tk 120 to Tk 140, and petrol from Tk 116 to Tk 135.

Following the increase, the government revised public transport fares on Apr 23.

In Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas, fares for 52-seat buses have risen from Tk 2.42 to Tk 2.53 per kilometre.

Inter-district bus fares have increased from Tk 2.12 to Tk 2.23 per kilometre.

Within the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) area, minibus fares have gone up from Tk 2.32 to Tk 2.43 per kilometre.

The minimum fare remains unchanged at Tk 10 for buses and Tk 8 for minibuses.
