BSTI files cases against numerous businesses for weight manipulation

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Thursday lodged cases against numerous businesses in the city on charge of measurement manipulation.

The cases were filed under the Standards of Weights and Measures Act, 2018, according to a BSTI press release.

A BSTI surveillance team conducted the raids at Hazipara, Shantinagar and Bailey road of the city and lodged those cases.

The drive was led by BSTI Assistant Director Md Monnaf Hossain and was accompanied by assistant director Sanjay Kumar Sarkar, BSTI inspector Md Rakibul Alam and Billal Hossain

The businesses are M/S Twenty Four Seven Super Shop, M /S Firoz Rice Store, M/S New Bismillah Broiler House, M/S Alam Enterprises, M/S Allah’r Dan Broiler House, M/S Shaheed Store, M/S Bas Sweets and Food Ltd, M/S Ross Sweet.

In another drive, led by engineer Md Ruhul Amin deputy director, CM, destroyed 1,560 water jar and other non-food jar items in the city.

Besides, the drive conducting team disconnected water line and sealed production of some four water selling companies as they were on operation without taking license from authorities concerned.

The four local companies are Sosti Drinking water, Super Surma Drinking water, Maa Drinking water, and Rafa Drinking water.

The team also raid 23 restaurants there and destroyed water jars served without license.

BSTI assistant directors and field officers accompanied the drive.
