BSTI test finds 22 more substandard food items

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) found 22 more food items of different companies as substandard.

The national quality control agency tested a total of 93 remaining food items in its laboratory and found such number in the second phase of its regular monitoring.

Earlier, the institution found 52 substandard food items of different companies out of 313 in its first phase of the testing.

The tests were conducted on 406 samples, collected from the open market, in the BSTI's laboratory recently.

In the first phase, the BSTI cancelled licences of 25 business organisations, suspended operating licence of one company for producing substandard food items, and approved again 26 items as they passed retest recently.

In the second phase, the BSTI cancelled the licenses of two companies and suspended operating licences of 11 different organisations.

Apart from this, it filed cases against eight companies as they did not have their licence issued from the standard agency.

Earlier it also cancelled the licence of Danish Food Limited situated in Narayanaganj.
