BTRC summons representatives of Facebook, TikTok

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has summoned the representatives of Facebook and TikTok for explanations about their failure to prevent violence-instigating content on their platforms.

“The BTRC has asked the representatives of Facebook and TikTok to present the explanations on July 31,” State Minister for Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said at a press briefing at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) building on Sunday morning.

“The government will not reopen the social media sites in Bangladesh until getting the explanations,” the state minister added.
