Police on Wednesday morning recovered the bullet-riddled body of a young man from Eklaspur union in Matlab Uttar upazila of Chandpur district.
The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman Avi, 35, son of Fazlul Haque of Bokultala area in Hasimpur village of the union.
Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Matlab Circle) Khairul Kabir said Kamal, a local businessman, found bullet-riddled Avi lying on the ground while heading to his shop.
Avi was taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead. Based on the scene, police believe the killing took place between 1:00 am and 5:00 am.
The victim had severe injuries and a gunshot wound to the head. Police suspect the murder was linked to a dispute, but further investigation is underway.
The body has been sent to Chandpur General Hospital for an autopsy.
