Bus overturns in Gopalganj killing two

Two passengers were killed and 25 others injured as a bus overturned on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Gopnathpur under Gopalganj sadar upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased have been identified as retired policeman Ruku Molla, 62, a resident of Boalia village in Sadar upazila and Ashikur Rahman Reza, son of one Anis Molla of Tilchara village in Kashiani upazila. Reza was a student of Food Technology department in Gopalganj Polytechnic Institute, according to a news agency report.

The accident took place when a Gopalganj-bound bus overturned on the highway after being hit by a brick-laden truck around 9:00am, leaving Reza dead on the spot, said Md Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

Later, Ruku was declared dead after he was taken to a nearby hospital, said the OC.
