Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has visited BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital.

His motorcade entered the hospital at 7:07pm on Wednesday. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir received him, bdnews24.com reports.

The chief advisor was then taken to the fourth-floor critical care unit, where Khaleda is being treated under the supervision of a special medical board.

BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said, alongside the chief advisor, the head of the medical board, Dr Shahabuddin Talukder, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, and Syeda Shamila Rahman, the wife of Khaleda’s youngest son, were also present.

The chief advisor stayed at the hospital for approximately half an hour before departing with his motorcade.

Khaleda was admitted to Evercare Hospital on Nov 23 for a health check-up. Following preliminary tests that evening, the medical board overseeing her treatment recommended hospitalisation.

On Nov 27, as her condition became “critical”, she was transferred to the CCU, receiving intensive treatment under the supervision of the board.

Her care is being administered under the guidance of both domestic and international physicians. On Wednesday, a specialist team from the United Kingdom joined her treatment.

Medical assistance has also been offered from the United States, China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and India.

Regarding the possibility of transferring Khaleda abroad for treatment, Zahid explained: “Following evaluation by specialist doctors, if she is deemed transferable and the medical board advises that it is necessary, she will be taken abroad for treatment at the appropriate time.”
