The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has imposed a nationwide ban on drone operations until Febru- ary 15, effective immediately.
The directive was issued on Tuesday through a notification, signed by CAAB Assistant Director (Public Relations) Muhammad Kawsar Mahmud.
According to the notification, the ban applies to general people and all private entities across the country. However, the law-enforcement agencies and the armed forces are exempted from the restriction.
The government and private organisations - engaged in research, surveys, agricultural activities, or monitoring operations - may apply for special permission from CAAB, subject to clearance from all relevant authorities. Broadcasting requirements for the government-organised events may also be considered for exemption on a case-by-case basis, following proper application procedures.
CAAB warned that violations of the ban would be treated as an offence under Section 24 of the Civil Aviation Act.
