Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan has discussed potential collaboration with Starlink’s internet service with Richard H Griffiths, the visiting global engagement officer of SpaceX.

They discussed the possibility of launching Starlink satellite-based internet service in Bangladesh airports during a courtesy call at Shahjalal International Airport around 12:00 pm Sunday, according to a CAAB statement.

Monjur thanked Griffiths for visiting Bangladesh and discussed different aspects of improving passenger service, hoping to collaborate in future.

On Feb 14, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus had a telephone conversation with Elon Musk, the founder of American aerospace company SpaceX and its subsidiary Starlink, regarding the launch of SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service in Bangladesh.

On Mar 9, the interim government revealed that several local companies had begun working on behalf of Starlink to establish a Ground Earth Station in Bangladesh.

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, special assistant to the chief advisor on telecommunications and IT, said the Starlink delegation visiting Bangladesh “signed agreements” with local companies.

He added that these agreements cover land allocation, construction support, and infrastructure maintenance.
