Chattogram oil depot fire under control

A fire that broke out from an oil depot at Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram was brought under control after more than one hour of frantic efforts on Wednesday afternoon.

Jashim Uddin, Chattogram divisional deputy assistant of Fire Service and Civil Defense, said that the fire broke out around 2:15 pm at Fouzdarhat Abdullahor Ghata area of the upazila, reports UNB.

The fire also engulfed a motorbike showroom 'Tata Motors and Borotakia Motors'.

On information, 18 vehicles of six fire-fighting units and a vehicle of Navy rushed in and doused the fire around 3:30pm.

The oil depot was used to preserve engine oil collected from old ships of ship yard.

However, the officials concerned could not ascertain the cause of the fire yet.
