The Greater Chattogram Public Transports' Owners and Workers Unity called off the 48-hour strike they called on Saturday after 12 hours on Sunday afternoon.

The announcement came from the Greater Chattogram Public Transports' Owners and Workers Unity after a meeting with district administration officials this afternoon, reports UNB.

Manjur Alam Chowdhury, the association's convener, announced it, saying, "Considering public interest at the request of the honourable district administrator, we have ended the 48-hour ongoing strike. We thank the district administrator for accepting our demands. If such a situation arises again, we will call for a strike again."

Earlier, transport workers and owners protested the bus burning by Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) students, centring the deaths of their two fellows in a tragic road crash on April 22.

A 48-hour bus strike was called beginning from 6am on Sunday in Chattogram Division to press home their four-point demand.
