Chhatra Dal Protests Shamya’s Murder at BAU

The Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) staged a protest rally condemning the murder of Shahriar Alam Shamya, a Dhaka University student and JCD leader.

The demonstration took place around 1:30 PM on Wednesday (May 14), where JCD leaders and activists demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the killing.

The rally began at KR Market on the BAU campus, passed the Vice Chancellor’s residence, and concluded at the TSC square, where a protest gathering was held.

Present at the event were BAU JCD Convener Md Atikur Rahman, Member Secretary Md Shafiqul Islam, Senior Joint Convener A.M. Shoaib, along with other leaders and activists.

Atikur Rahman stated, “Chhatra Dal activists are being attacked in almost every public university, including Dhaka University. The culprits behind Shamya’s murder must be brought to justice swiftly.”

Shafiqul Islam added, “We demand a speedy trial for Shamya’s killers. We will not accept delays in the legal process.”

Shahriar Alam Shamya was a student of the 2018–19 academic session at Dhaka University’s Institute of Education and Research. He also served as the Literary and Publication Secretary of the AF Rahman Hall unit of Chhatra Dal. On Tuesday (May 13), he was fatally stabbed by unidentified assailants on the university campus.
