The officers-in-charge at all 50 police stations in the Dhaka Metropolitan Area have been transferred after the government changeover.

The order to transfer 32 of the OCs came at around midnight on Sunday, according to a bdnews24.com report.

The other 18 had previously been transferred on August 13 which means all the police stations under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police have seen their heads transferred.

These police inspectors have been sent to training centres across the country where they have been tasked with training police personnel.

A few others have been transferred to the Tourist Police, the Armed Police Battalion, or the Industrial Police. They will no longer have the ‘command power’ that they did as OCs.

There has been a reshuffling of police at all levels since the Sheikh Hasina-led government fell on August 5.

Inspector General Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was fired and replaced by Traffic and Driving School Commandant Mainul Islam.

Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman replaced Rapid Action Battalion Director General Harunor Rashid.

Dhaka Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman was handed a compulsory retirement and replaced by CID Deputy Inspector General Md Mainul Hasan.

Influential police officials like former Special Branch chief Monirul Islam and former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman were ordered to compulsory retirement.

On August 13, a total of 51 police officials, including three additional IGs, were replaced in three separate notices from the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

On Saturday, 13 officials with the ranks of DMP additional deputy commissioner and assistant commissioner were transferred out of Dhaka. Seven other officials were then appointed to the posts of DMP deputy commissioner that same day.

The following day, 73 police officials were promoted to deputy inspector general status in one go.

Of them, 31 were elevated from the ranks of superintendents of police, meaning they received two promotions at once.
