Country's Civil surgeons have urged the government to grant them limited authority to operate mobile courts, aiming to combat illegal clinics, fraudulent doctors, and the widespread issue of adulterated medicines.
They put forward the demand during the inaugural session of the first-ever Civil Surgeons Conference, held at the Chief Advisor’s office in the capital’s Tejgaon area on Monday.
Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus inaugurated the two-day conference.
Speaking on behalf of civil surgeons, Dhaka District Civil Surgeon Md. Zillur Rahman highlighted ongoing threats faced by healthcare workers due to inadequate security.
He also proposed deploying Ansar forces or establishing a "health police" unit at hospitals to strengthen security.
