Commonwealth pre-election assessment team holds meeting with Attorney General

Visiting Commonwealth pre-election assessment team on Tuesday held a meeting with Attorney General AM Amin Uddin at latter’s office at the Supreme Court to discuss the role of the judiciary and enforcement of law in the upcoming national polls.

The four-member team held the meeting at Attorney General’s office at the Supreme Court. Additional Attorney General Sheikh Mohammad Morshed was present at the meeting, among others.

“They inquired about the role of judiciary in the election process, the problems, enforcement of law, authority of Election Commission, the law under which the observers come to observe the election, among others. We informed them about these matters,” Attorney General AM Amin Uddin later told the newsmen.

The visiting Commonwealth team is holding meetings with different organisations and authorities in the country and would remain here till November 23. They already held meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and Election Commission.

Headed by Commonwealth secretariat head of the Electoral Support Section Linford Andrew, the other member of the team are- political adviser Lindiwe Maleleka, executive officer Zippy Ojago, and assistant research officer Sarthak Roy.
