Law enforcers, in special drives arrested 42 suspects including 10 drug traders and two activists of Jamaat-E-Islami from different areas of Dinajpur district in last 12-hour ending at 8 am Tuesday morning.
Law enforcers also seized 208 litres of locally-made liquor, 200 bottles of Phensidyl syrup, 1.5-kg of cannabis and 309 pieces of yaba tablets during the drives.
Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district on different charges.
During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested nine people including three drug traders with 208 litres of locally-made liquor, Birganj Thana police arrested two, Birampur Thana police arrested another two, Kaharole Thana police arrested three suspects, while Chirirbandar Thana police detained six including two activists of Jamaat-E-Islami, Ghoraghat Thana police arrested three drug traders with 1.5-kg of marijuana, Nawabganj Thana police arrested two, Phulbari Thana police detained three more, Parbatipur Thana police arrested four and Khansama Thana police arrested four.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrestees, the sources added.
Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained four drug pedlars with 200 bottles of Phensidyl and 309 pieces of yaba tablets around 11 pm from Hili Railway Station in Hakimpur upazila of the district, reports BSS.
Later, the detained people were handed over to Hakimpur Thana police, BGB said.
The arrested persons were sent to jail.
