Police arrested an operative of the banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) from Dhaka city’s Jatrabari area on Saturday evening.
“We arrested an active member of ABT Md Sarwar Hossain Rajib, 25, near a mosque adjacent to gate no-1 at Bibir Bagicha at around 6:00 pm on Saturday,” said a police official.
Counter Terrorism Department personnel of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) also recovered a mobile phone set and memory card from his possession.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestee confessed his link to ABT saying that he used to work in recruiting new members for the organisation after consulting its one of the top leaders Maulana Osman Goni, BSS reported.
A case was lodged under Anti-Terrorism Act with Jatrabari Police Station in this connection.
