Bangladesh has registered 11 deaths from dengue in a day, taking the total toll in October to over 300 and the total tally this year to 1,295.
The country also saw 1,917 new hospitalisations due to dengue in a day, taking the caseload this year to 260,829, in a 24-hour count on Wednesday.
Of the patients newly hospitalised with the disease, 435 cases were in Dhaka, while 1,482 were outside the capital.
Currently, 7,599 patients are hospitalised with dengue. Of them, 2,162 are in Dhaka and 5,437 are outside the capital.
The dengue outbreak has been significantly worse this year than in previous years.
Experts have blamed a prolonged monsoon and rising temperature, along with a lack of effective measures to kill the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the known carrier of the virus, for the outbreak.
