A violent clash between two rival groups in a village in Brahmanbaria’s Nasirnagar Upazila has left two people dead and at least 50 others injured.
The conflict erupted Tuesday morning in Goalnagar village between supporters of the Rahim Talukder group and the Kasem group, according to Nasirnagar Police chief Shahinul Islam.
The dead have been identified as Akhtar Mia and Habibur Rahman, the latter being the imam of the local Goalnagar mosque.
Police said the clash was the result of a long-standing dispute between the two groups.
Tensions had been building since an earlier altercation on Tuesday, eventually erupting into full-scale violence later in the morning.
