A 32-year-old man died after falling from the roof of an under-construction building while attempting to catch a thief in the town’s Courtpara area early Saturday.
The incident happened around 2:30 am, said Mosharraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kushtia Model Police Station.
The deceased, identified as Badal, was the son of the late Mohan from the Paschim Majampur area in Kushtia.
A group of thieves had come to steal goods from the building, said the OC.
Badal was among a group of locals who went to the roof of the seven-storey under-construction building to search for the thieves and fell from the roof.
Later, he was rescued and rushed to the 260-bed Kushtia General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The authorities are investigating the incident, added the OC.
