Rapid Action Battalion personnel detained 35 Rohingya people, including women and children, at Patenga in the district on Saturday.
The Rohingyas were rounded up in the morning when they were reportedly attempting to enter the port city via Patenga ghat by boat.
Some of the detainees said that they paid brokers Tk 2,000 per person to facilitate their entry to Chattogram from Myanmar.
RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director ARM Mozaffar Hossain said the detainees were handed over to Patenga Police Station.
