ACC approves case against Hasina's press secretary Naimul Islam for failing to submit wealth statement

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved the filing of a case against Md Naimul Islam Khan, former press secretary to the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for failing to submit his wealth statement within the stipulated time as required by law.

According to an official letter (Memo No. 00.01.0000.803.01.003.25) issued from the ACC headquarters in Dhaka, the case will be filed under Section 26(2) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004.

The directive, signed by Md Nur-e-Alam, Deputy Director (Money Laundering-1), states that the Commission has formally approved the move to file the case.

The accused, Md Naimul Islam Khan, son of Md Nurul Islam Khan and Nurun Nahar Khanam, currently resides at House No. 23, Road No 6, Nikunja-1, Khilkhet, Dhaka, while his permanent address is 125, First Lane, Kalabagan, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

Khan was a senior journalist and a supporter of the ousted prime minister, Sheikh Hasina and her party Awami League.

He was appointed as the press secretary to the prime minister in July 2024.

He remain on the post until Hasina fled to India on August 5. 2025.
