An alleged terrorist was killed in a gunfight with police at Bhabanipur village in Birulia union of Savar upazila early Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Ismail, 33, son of Shahidul Miah of Shyampur area. Ismail was accused in several cases, reports UNB.
SM Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station, said that a team of police conducted a drive at the village early in the morning to arrest local top terrorist Al Amin.
Sensing the presence of police, Al Amin and Ismail attacked police, prompting them to fire back, triggering a gunfight, leaving Ismail with bullet-wound.
Later, the injured was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police seized arms and bullet from the spot.
Sub-inspector Tariqul, assistant sub-inspector Mohosin, constables Babul, and Shamim were also injured in the incident.
Later, police arrested four people including, Ajal Haque, member of Birulia union parishad, also father-in-law of Al Amin, from the village.
