Another UPDF leader shot dead in Rangamati

A United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) leader was shot dead early Saturday in a reported gunfight in Bandukbhanga union of Sadar upazila in Rangamati.

According to UNB, the deceased was identified as Anol Bikash Chakma alias Pluto Chakma, 42, a resident of Kawkhali upazila and the organiser of Bandukbhanga union unit of UPDF.

Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Satyajit Barua said the locals, who heard several gunshots at the dead of night, spotted the bullet-hit body of Pluto at Dhamoirchhara in the morning and informed the law-enforcers.

The members of police and Army, on information, visited the spot.

Mukhosh Bahini Protirodh Committee protested the murder incident and announced a half-day blockade of roads and waterways in the district for Tuesday (December 19).

Another UPDF leader Anoti Ranjan Chakma was shot to death by miscreants in Bogachhori area of Naniarchar upazila earlier on December 5.
